Dallas Works prepares Dallas area youth for future careers in three ways:

Career Ready Workshops – February - April

Flexible workshops that will help 1,000 young people develop workplace knowledge and skills, meet professionals from the local community, and build community with other young people and caring adults. Attendees will visit corporate offices while developing practical skills like professional dress and resume writing. Youth will build confidence and build community as they meet new people.

Internship Prep Bootcamp - May - June

Up to 175 internship-eligible youth will receive over 50 hours of hands-on lessons to prepare them for the summer internship. In addition to practical lessons about professional communication and using Microsoft Office, participants will go to mock interviews, networking events, and explore new parts of Dallas, ensuring they are ready to make the most of their internship.

Internship Program – June 30 - Aug 8

For 2025, Dallas Works will place more than 100 eligible youth who have completed the Prep Program in paid internships. Interns are paid and work 20 - 40 hours per week. In this transformational experience, interns become part of the team at local corporations, nonprofit organizations, and government agencies for 6-8 weeks. The internship program ends with a celebratory event.

Dallas Works is a comprehensive youth development program that prepares Dallas area youth aged 16-21 life-changing workforce readiness experiences. The Mayor's Summer Employment Program has provided hundreds of young people with valuable employment opportunities over the years. In 2025, in partnership with Mayor Eric L. Johnson, Dallas Works is powered by the ALL STARS PROJECT and will reach over 1,000 young people with career-focused learning opportunities and place over 100 youth from underserved communities in paid internships in local businesses, nonprofits, and government agencies.
